The History Department at Angelo State University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position with an expertise in Asian history broadly defined. We welcome any sub-field, including specialties in China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands, India, the Indian Ocean World, and/or a focus on empires and foreign policy that includes the study of Asia. An ability to teach broadly is desirable. The successful applicant will also teach U.S. survey courses. Teaching load is four courses per semester and will include upper-level courses in the area specialty and U.S. survey courses.
The successful candidate is expected to be devoted to quality teaching with clear, high standards, and to be an active member of Angelo State’s academic community. Tenure track faculty are also expected to be engaged professionally, with their disciplines and provide service to the university.
Angelo State University is part of the Texas Tech University system. It is a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution. We are located in the heart of West Texas in the town of San Angelo.
