Fixed-term Project Administrative Staff (Project Specialist)
1. Position: Project Specialist (Fixed-term Project Administrative Staff) (UTGCC)

3. Department: International Exchange Group of the International Affairs Department (Due to future organizational restructuring there may be a change in the affiliated department)
4. Location: 7-3-1 Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan
5. Period of Employment: In principle, contract is based on Japanese academic calendar, from April to March. Initial appointment, therefore, will be from Feb. 1 to March 31, 2018. After that, the contract is renewable twice (a total of three years) based on mutual agreement between the employer and the employee.
6. Job Descriptions: Work relating to the development and implementation of the UTokyo Global Competence Certificate system (operation of the Learning Management System (LMS), support the production of e-learning materials, and production of operating manuals); Work relating to the operation of the system (work relating campus-wide notifications, dealing with inquiries from faculties and students, work involved in registering/updating each item in the certification, work involved in the certification of the applicants; Other administrative work of the International Exchange Group.
[The “UTokyo Global Competence Certificate system” is an internal system of certification provided to students who meet specific conditions by taking part in study abroad programs, interacting with students from overseas, as well as programs that advance globalization, etc.]
7. Minimum Qualifications: Ability, qualification and experience to carry out the work described in 6. Job Descriptions; sufficient proficiency in English and Japanese; ability and personality to work with others in the line of work; some experience with the operation of overseas student exchanges at universities desirable.
8. Work days: Mon-Fri. Exceptions apply in case of special events. Other rules apply in accordance with the University of Tokyo regulations.
9. Regular work hours: 09:00 – 17: 45 (Lunch: 12:00 – 13:00)
10. Salary: Salary will be based on “The University of Tokyo Rules on Application of the Annual Salary System” [Base salary, merit-based allowance, commuting allowance (subject to conditions), overtime pay]
11. Social Insurance: MEXT Mutual Aid Association, employment insurance, as prescribed by the University of Tokyo regulations

One-page statement of purpose ( Use A4 or Letter-sized sheet, single space and regular-size font and margins. Please state your views, in Japanese and English, on how the university should handle increasing number of students from overseas and how you would like to be involved in the activity, and you experiences.)
14. Selection Process: Interviews will take place following document screening. Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted by e-mail regarding dates. Interview will take place on December 22, between 13:00 and 17:00 Japan time in Tokyo. For applicants living abroad who are unable to travel to Japan, a Skype interview format will be made available during those hours. In that case, notify clearly in your cover letter your need for a Skype interview.
