The Board of Electors to the Professorship of the History of Political Thought invites applications for this Professorship from persons whose work falls within the general field of the Professorship to take up appointment on 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Professorship falls vacant as a consequence of the retirement of Professor John Robertson.
Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in the field of the History of Political Thought, and the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to build on current strengths in maintaining and developing a leading research presence. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, and contribution to examining, supervision and administration, especially of the Faculty's world leading MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
