Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus invites applications for Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish, (Fixed-term, multi-year appointment - 2 years with option for renewal, 36 weeks) to begin August 2018.
Responsibilities: Teach 3-4 courses (typically 12 credits) each semester of the Spanish language sequence (elementary and intermediate courses) and general education courses related to the applicant`s field of study. The ideal candidate will provide students with opportunities for in and out-of-classroom conversational activities and will develop contacts with the communities' Spanish-speaking student population. Teaching assignments may include general education courses as well as day, evening, and/or online classes as needed. The successful candidate will participate in teaching development, advise students and provide career guidance, participate in campus, university, and community service, and demonstrate currency in Spanish discipline scholarship.
Qualifications: Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Spanish language or literature and Spanish-language fluency. A background in Latin American and/or Iberian American civilizations is an advantage. Previous teaching at the college level is strongly preferred. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered, collaborative environment is expected, and experience with effective integrations of technology, hybrid and/or online teaching is preferred. An ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the university is required. Penn State Fayette is located on approximately 100 acres in the scenic Laurel Highlands. The campus is situated between Uniontown and Connellsville, Pennsylvania, along Route US 119, approximately 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh and 30 minutes north of Morgantown, West Virginia. The campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities in a convenient and safe environment with easy access to the urban offerings of Pittsburgh and Morgantown and the outdoor activities of the mountains
