More than 27,000 students study on campuses in Kamloops and Williams Lake, or in distance or online courses and programs through Open Learning. Research, creation and innovation thrive in TRU’s open, flexible learning environment.
The Faculty of Arts has a strong reputation for teaching informed by scholarship and actively promoting undergraduate student research. With over 110 full-time and sessional faculty across 7 departments and programs, the Faculty is diverse in its scope and range of program offerings that range from certificates and diplomas through to undergraduate degrees. Skills developed in the classroom, in the field or in the community, at home or abroad, prepare students for future success in the workplace, in graduate studies, or studying within a professional school.
As the Faculty’s chief academic and administrative officer, the Dean is responsible to the Provost and Vice-President Academic for providing dynamic and visionary leadership in the articulation and implementation of the Faculty’s evolving strategic plan for professional and career development, education, scholarship and outreach in alignment with TRU’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. As an accomplished teacher, researcher or practitioner, the Dean will possess an open, transparent, and collegial style of leadership, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues to plan the Faculty’s future, as well as champion the value of Arts programs within TRU and beyond.

Thompson Rivers University is strongly committed to fostering diversity within our community. We welcome those who would contribute to the further diversification of our staff, our faculty and its scholarship including, but not limited to, women, visible minorities, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity.
