The Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Chicago is searching for a beginning or advanced assistant professor to join an internationally active program with strong ties to neighboring disciplines in humanities, arts, and social sciences. This tenure-track position is open with respect to field, but strengths in 20th- and 21st-century literary, cultural, media, and/or performance studies are a plus. The position will preferably begin July 1, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. The teaching load for tenure track positions is typically four courses per year; additional responsibilities include advising at all levels of the program as well as service on departmental and university committees. A doctoral degree in Germanic Studies, or related field, is required by the start date of the appointment.
