University of Copenhagen, Department of Science Education
Associate Professor in Higher Education Research (211-0521)
Institution Type: | College / University |
Location: | Denmark |
Position: | Associate Professor |
The Department of Science Education seeks an excellent scholar for an associate professorship in higher education research, with a specialization within teaching and learning in university science programs. Preferably, the associate professor’s research will focus on students and/or teachers’ professional development within science programs.
The associate professor must have an academic standing showing internationally competitive research, and/or have internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact. The Department collaborates closely with other departments at the Faculty of Science, and applicants should have sufficient competences in the natural sciences to develop and participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating developmental and/or research projects concerning teaching at other departments.
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies, and they must be able to explain and reflect upon their own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.
Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff, and participation in pedagogical development projects at UCPH. Teaching duties include co-teaching courses together with colleagues from the department. In particular, the associate professor will, in collaboration with colleagues, conduct teaching in the ‘Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Programme’ (UP) – this includes pedagogical supervision of university teachers (primarily from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health). Teaching duties also involve teaching in the course ‘Introduction to University Pedagogy’ (IUP) as well as other in-service training courses for faculty. In addition, the successful applicant may also supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students.
