The History Department at Hamilton College, a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in early modern European intellectual history, excluding Russia and the British Isles, to begin on July 1, 2018. This is intellectual history broadly conceived, including the history of science, technology, and exploration. The department is especially interested in applicants whose work engages any of these fields in the context of global or transnational networks, colonialism, gender, sexuality, and/or race. The new hire will be expected to teach both lower- and upper-division courses in their area of specialization, as well as a broader survey course on the history of European thought since the Renaissance, and contribute to relevant interdisciplinary programs across campus. The applicant’s cover letter should address the ways in which they would further the College’s goal of building a diverse educational environment. Ph.D. in History or History of Science required, but ABDs close to completing their dissertation at the time of application may be considered. Candidates should send their letters of application, transcripts, and CVs to Interfolio at apply.interfolio.com/43345.
