Role Purpose : The Curator will actively support to reshape the new permanent exhibition for 2019. She/he should have a field of specialization in Central Asia and Iran and will be responsible for all curatorial matters relating to her/his field of expertise and expected to research, catalogue and publish the MIA collections, especially in the context of the 2019 re-launch.
Key Accountabilities and duties:

Contribute to display and exhibition development according to the latest scientific research and international museum practice.

Assist with day-to-day documentation and research of the collection including extensive academic publications

Responsible for all curatorial matters relating to the field of expertise

Contribute to temporary and permanent display and exhibition development as well as planning & content development

Handle public queries, Educational and Communication Division requests, and scholarly requests

Must be able to work within a team, be flexible and self-motivated. Liaise with museum conservators, registrars and other colleagues on a regular basis

Other activities as requested by the Deputy Director Curatorial Affairs
- 3 - 5 years as Curator of relevant field
- Familiarity with object handling
- Documentation and database experience
- A good network of specialized contacts
- Experience of living in the Middle East desirable
- PhD in Islamic art history or archaeology (ABD acceptable)
- Fluent in English
- Proficiency in Persian and/or Turkish, Arabic
- A high level of subject-specific expertise
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong research abilities and excellent organization
- Publications and lecturing experience
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Professional manner and friendly attitude
- Interested in professional development
