The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (LLC) seeks a Lecturer to teach scientific and technical German language and develop and coordinate the international STEM program (iSTEP) as part of an initial three-year grant with the possibility of extension beyond the first three years. The successful candidate will develop and teach STEM-German language curriculum; source and coordinate international exchanges, internship and laboratory placements; recruit, supervise and advise undergraduate students; collaborate with colleagues in STEM and language departments in the Five Colleges; and perform other duties as required. The teaching load will be reduced commensurate with service obligations. This position does not have research-related duties.
This is a full- time (9 month) non-tenure-track position beginning September 1, 2017. Initial one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements:
Candidates must be able to teach scientific and technical German language.
Candidates must be able to collaborate with faculty, staff and professionals across disciplines in higher education and in business.
Native or near-native proficiency in German and English and ability to travel internationally are required.
MA or equivalent in German Studies, Applied Linguistics, a STEM field, or other relevant academic field required. PhD preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Teaching scientific and technical German language
- International programs and internships coordination
