Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern European History
The Department of History at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position for the Fall 2017 semester. We seek an individual with expertise in Modern European history, 19th century to the present (excluding Russia). The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load, including broad surveys of modern World history and upper-division courses. Preference will be given to applicants holding a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment but ABD’s will be considered. Description of Responsibilities: Will have a 12-credit teaching load including broad surveys of modern World history and an upper-division course on World War II.
In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
Required Qualifications: ABD in European History, with expertise in Modern European history, 19th century to the present (excluding Russia).
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in European History
