The Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS) at Columbia University announces an opening in Arabic language instruction to be filled at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Associate in Discipline beginning in July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018. Applications will be reviewed starting June 2. We welcome applications from professional language teachers who are committed to teaching languages for academic purposes. Responsibilities will include teaching 2 courses per semester, as well as performing other duties associated with the language program.
A Master's degree is required; Ph.D is preferred. Successful candidates must have native or near native fluency in Arabic and English, foreign language instruction experience, and an oral proficiency based approach. Salary and rank commensurate with experience.
