The department of Global Studies at SUNY Orange invites applications from diverse individuals with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, as well as student learning and success to teach World History and Western Civilizations. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate survey courses, including, but not limited to: World History I, World History II, Greek and Roman History, Medieval and Renaissance History, The Age of Revolutions, and Modern Europe.
This position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities, including participation in curriculum and course development, departmental planning, attendance at department and college meetings, participation on department and Governance committees, student advising and other duties as assigned.
This instructor will be expected to participate in College and Departmental assessment initiatives.
Teaching assignments may be on the Middletown or Newburgh campus or both.
Requirements: Master's Degree in World History, European History, or World Region. College-level teaching experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communications skills and bilingual skills. An earned Doctorate in World or European History, with particular emphasis in Greek and Roman World, or an appropriate transnational field; experience mentoring and advising students; experience in using computer technology and distance education; experience in World and Western Civilizations survey courses.
