Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Modern European History
The History Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship position in Modern European history, 19th century to the present (including Britain, excluding Russia and Germany) to begin July 1, 2017. Sub-field is open, but preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate an ability to offer at least some post-1945 curricular coverage. Fellows are expected to teach three courses per year and participate in the life of the department.
Applicants for this fellowship must have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than January 1, 2014. Candidates who expect to receive their Ph.D. by June 30, 2017 should provide documentation from their home institution confirming this schedule. Applicants must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and a commitment to the liberal arts.
The fellowship carries an annual stipend of $50,000 plus benefits. In addition, the position carries a $4,000 research and travel fund plus support to attend professional conferences.
