The Department of History at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick) is pleased to invite applications for a senior-level appointment in African American History. We particularly encourage applicants with interests in questions of gender or sexuality. We seek a candidate suitable for appointment with tenure at the rank of Distinguished Professor or Full Professor, though truly exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in the Department and University, including the regular teaching of both undergraduate and graduate students. Qualifications: Ph.D. in History and a strong record of distinguished teaching and scholarly publication required.
