General responsibilities:
- This position requires an ability and credentials to teach introductory course in American Government
- Teaching and advising in a four-year college setting
- Participation in the College governance system
Qualifications and requirements:
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology or Anthropology
- The candidate would also have appropriate and robust teaching experience at the college level and excellent written and oral communication
- Tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level requires an appropriate terminal degree
- Tenure track appointment at higher levels requires a doctorate and significant teaching experience at the postsecondary level
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty and administrators
Preferred qualifications:
- Ability to teach one or more electives within the department
- Familiarity with unique mission of Massachusetts Maritime Academy
Desirable Assets:
- Tutoring experience
- Experience with assessment of student learning
- Varsity athletic coaching experience at the college level
Salary: Commensurate with experience and subject to the MSCA collective bargaining agreement plan. The
Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.
