The Program for Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) is hiring for multiple positions at the rank of Instructor in Rhetoric and Composition. In particular, we seek faculty with interdisciplinary research interests who can teach upper-level writing courses for students across the curriculum. Such interests may include but are not limited to: professional and technical communication; race and critical literacies; visual and information studies; and environmental studies as well as more general areas of interest such as writing in the natural or social sciences. A secondary interest in community writing or innovative digital pedagogy is desirable.
Instructors hold nine-month appointments and contribute service to the unit and campus. They regularly teach a 4-4 load of lower- and upper-division courses each year with enrollments capped at 19. Instructors hold renewable, multi-year positions with the expectation of long-term professional commitments to teaching. We offer a competitive starting salary with the possibility of additional funding through summer teaching opportunities as well as full benefits, mentoring, and travel support.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Rhetoric/Composition or related fields with a clear emphasis on teaching excellence and student composing and engagement.
