Stockton University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor in Atlantic History; a specialization in Hispanic-Atlantic or Black Atlantic studies preferred. Candidates should have PhD in hand at time of appointment and be able to contribute to a curriculum that emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and regional perspectives to the study of history. Background in and ability to teach public history is also desirable.
Teaching load is three 4-credit courses per semester, and includes lower and upper-level surveys and seminars in pre-1865 North American and Atlantic World studies, as well as special topic courses of the instructor's choice. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to the program's service courses and the university's General Studies Program. Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and a commitment to research is required. A commitment to service is also expected.
Stockton is a comprehensive university of nearly 9,000 students located in southern New Jersey, 12 miles from the Jersey shore, 1 hour from Philadelphia (accessible by public transportation), and 2.5 hours from New York City.
