The Assistant Professor of History will teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses as appropriate to area of specialization and department need, as well as U.S. survey courses.
This faculty member will supervise the graduate public history certificate and will develop additional public history initiatives. With other history faculty members, this individual will be expected to advise history majors and recruit new students. The individual also will be expected to contribute to department, college and/or university service.
When appointment begins, the successful candidate must possess a PhD in public history or a PhD in history with significant concentration/experience in public history.
Preference will be given to areas of expertise that are encompassed broadly by Global Civil Rights and that complement and enhance the department's identified and emerging programmatic priorities (e.g., LGBTQ history; African American history; Latino/a history; Women and Gender history; Genocide history; etc.).
Preference will be given to the candidate who possesses the PhD and a proven track-record of teaching college-level classes. Advanced PhD candidates will also be considered. Area of expertise must be 20th century U.S. History.
