The Department of History at the University of North Alabama (www.una.edu/history) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professorship in Public History. The candidate will coordinate the department’s offerings in Public History, including the direction of the Master of Arts in Public History. Teaching responsibilities will include U.S. history surveys, advanced undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area(s) of specialty in U.S. History, as well as graduate courses.
The Public History Program at UNA works in concert with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area (MSNHA), which operates under the University of North Alabama. The heritage area spans six counties within the Tennessee River basin of North Alabama and was developed to help preserve the history of this region.
The successful candidate must possess an active research agenda and demonstrate excellence in both scholarship and teaching. A Ph.D. in hand by August 2017 is required.
