Assistant Professor—Ethnic American Literature and Culture
The Department of English at Utah State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Ethnic American Literature and Culture. Specialization in contemporary Native American literature, oral literature, or folklore is strongly preferred, with a secondary preference for specialization in Latino/a literature and culture. Other desirable areas of focus include material culture, fieldwork, and/or western American studies. PhD required. The position is available August 2017.
Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will conduct interdisciplinary research in ethnic American literature and culture and teach core courses in American Literature and American Studies, as well as special topics in their specific areas of expertise.
Candidates should be prepared to maintain an active research agenda and publication record, as well as to participate in university and scholarly service. The teaching load supports research. See English.usu.edu for more information about the curriculum and programs.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in English, American Studies, Native American Studies, or related fields
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Ability to serve as a mentor and advisor to students
Evidence of scholarly potential

Promising interdisciplinary research agenda in ethnic American literature and culture
