The Simmons College Department of History welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Latin American History, beginning September 1, 2017.
We seek a colleague who will develop and teach a range of history courses, from surveys to seminars, as well as contribute to the interdisciplinary undergraduate core curriculum (the Simmons PLAN), and work with Master's students.
The position is open with regard to specific chronological period and to geographic region of specialization within Latin America and the Caribbean. We especially encourage applicants whose research and teaching trace transnational connections and who place their subjects in a broad intellectual context.
The successful candidate will complement our department’s current offerings. Particularly desirable areas of interest include:
- African diaspora,
- the global south,
- borderlands,
- the history of science and medicine,
- digital humanities,
- historical memory,
- quantitative methods,
- oral history.
