Assistant Professor of Sociology or Anthropology

The Department of Sociology at Moravian College invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August 2017. We seek a Sociologist or Cultural Anthropologist specializing in migration studies, specifically immigration to the United States. The ideal candidate’s research and teaching will strengthen our offerings in Social Work or Criminal Justice and related subfields. Scholars working at the intersection of questions related to migration/immigration, race/ethnicity, gender, mobility are particularly encouraged to apply. Desirable additional fields or areas of strength include focus on immigration from Central/South America and subaltern studies.
The successful candidate should have interdisciplinary graduate training and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and learning. The successful candidate should also be able to help expand the Social Work or Criminal Justice offerings in the department and support initiatives to increase cross-cultural competency on campus and globalize the curriculum. All faculty members at Moravian College are also expected also contribute to cross disciplinary programs at the college. A Ph.D. in Sociology, Anthropology or related field is expected by the time of appointment.
