Colonial/Early National U.S. History -- The History Program at CSU Channel Islands seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in U.S. History before 1800 starting in Fall 2017. The new position is intended to strengthen the North American history pillar of our program that includes Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Candidates who specialize in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: Borderlands, Digital Humanities, Economic, Environmental, Native American, and/or Atlantic World. The selected candidate will show expertise or promise in teaching abilities, scholarly accomplishments, and service experiences that best fit the needs for the future growth of our program. Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. by summer 2017 from an accredited institution in history or a related field, a record of or potential for effectiveness in scholarship and undergraduate instruction, and the ability and willingness to provide teaching versatility and interdisciplinary learning. Ability and willingness to develop and teach a broad range of courses would be a plus. Responsibilities include teaching U.S. surveys as well as upper division courses in area of expertise.
