Assistant or Associate Professor - History
The Department of History at the University of West Florida is seeking an Assistant or Associate professor (position # 103010) for a full-time, tenure-track position in public, applied, or trans-disciplinary history beginning January 2017.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have an earned PhD with a specialization in History or a closely related field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. ABDs will be considered if the doctoral degree will be completed prior to January 2017.
Preferred Qualifications:
The teaching load is three classes per semester, including core courses, upper-division courses, and graduate seminars. The department has special interest in candidates with the ability to teach two or more of the following areas: environmental or coastal history, material culture, community/local history, Big Data/GIS/ quantitative analysis, twentieth century. Region and chronological period is open. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in educational or public program development and administration and a record of successful teaching to culturally diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong potential for advancing UWF's goal of achieving Emerging Preeminence status, including a record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications, public/applied/digital history products, and grant writing.
