The Department of American Studies at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a tenure-track position, beginning in Fall 2017. The main area of specialization is transnational American studies with preference to candidates with research in contemporary transnational topics and Latino/a or Asian American cultures. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the American Studies core, including the introductory course in American Studies, as well as electives in transnational American studies. The appointment will be at the level of assistant professor or instructor, depending on qualifications.
Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate in American Studies, although the committee will also consider doctorates in other related fields. Teaching load is 5 courses per year, and will involve teaching in the College's general education curriculum, “Connections.” Please submit the following materials electronically to Dr. Alison Kibler, Search Committee Chair, via Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/36842: a letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching and research statements, graduate transcript, teaching evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, writing sample and/or scholarly publication, and three reference letters.
