THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The Department of History at RIT works in collaboration with the Department of Performing Arts/Visual Culture to offer a B.S. degree in Museum Studies. This public history position is situated within the Department’s commitment to the Museum Studies program. The successful candidate must therefore be able to work comfortably and confidently with a diverse group of scholars from different departmental and disciplinary backgrounds.

Detailed Job Description The Department of History at the Rochester Institute of Technology seeks to hire an assistant professor of history.
This is a tenure-track public history position. The successful candidate must: have the Ph.D. in hand, as ABDs will not be considered; demonstrate a track record of outstanding teaching in public history courses; and have recent curatorial experience. In addition, the ability to offer courses in local history, especially the history of Rochester, NY, is required. Additional areas of teaching interest within American history will be considered. Strong scholarly potential, in candidate’s area of research expertise, is required. This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with scholarship and service expectations.
