Lewis & Clark College, a private liberal arts college with 2,000 undergraduates, invites applications for a one-year replacement visiting assistant professorship in the Department of History for the 2016-17 academic year.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be advanced ABD candidates in history. Potential for excellent teaching at an undergraduate institution is essential. The course load will be five courses, ranging from general surveys in US history to upper-level special topics courses in the visitor’s area of research expertise. Ability to teach Native American history and/or history of the American West is desirable.

(1) a letter of application including a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching experience and research interests, as well as a description of how the applicant’s teaching and/or work in the campus community will contribute to a culture of inclusion and campus diversity.
