The Hong Kong Institute of Education is a publicly funded tertiary institution offering a full range of academic programmes at doctoral, master, bachelor and postgraduate diploma levels as well as other professional development programmes to over 12,000 students, serving teachers and professionals studying in education and related humanities, social sciences, and arts and culture disciplines. The Institute has a Graduate School and three Faculties, namely, Faculty of Education and Human Development, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, comprising altogether 16 Departments, with about 450 academic/teaching staff. It now features three Institute-level research centres and twelve Faculty-level research and development centres, covering various areas of expertise in Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts.

The Institute is seeking to appoint senior academics who are creative, future-oriented with a passion for their work and a willingness to lead teams of bright and young academics towards successful careers and making a positive impact in their communities.
The appointees are expected to have a strong publication record and international reputation. They should also have leadership experience, be good teachers, and be able to contribute to collaborative research and academic programme development, to secure external funds, and to serve the community with their expertise. Applicants should also have an appreciation of the rewards and challenges of working in a multicultural context.
Faculty of Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities comprises four cognate Departments, namely: Chinese Language Studies, English Language Education, Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, and Literature and Cultural Studies.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in English literature or a related discipline and have been working on literature in English as well as cultural studies. The ideal candidates should have a strong publication record, good international reputations/networks, leadership experience in research and academic programme development, and the ability to secure external funds, and to serve to the profession.
