The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Colonial American history. Duties will include teaching upper division courses in the candidate’s area of specialization and both parts of the 1000-level U.S. survey, scholarly and creative activity leading to publication, and participation in department, college, and university service. Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution or university with appropriate specialization by time of appointment is required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach online courses for the Master’s program, and may be required to teach dual enrollment U.S. surveys to high school students off campus. A research focus that complements and completes department strengths is preferred.
For the first two years the successful candidate will teach 3 courses per semester and participate in the University’s New Faculty Investment Program. Teaching load for the following years will be 4 courses per semester. The University is situated in Kingsville, Texas, approximately 45 minutes from Corpus Christi, 3 hours south of San Antonio and 4 hours south of Austin, Texas.
