The History Department at the University of Houston is seeking a colleague for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor specializing in post 1917 Russian History, and in Digital Humanities. The candidate has to contribute to our emerging strength in Digital Humanities, either through scholarship or teaching. We would hope that this hire would work in one of our thematic areas of strength, especially energy and the environment and/or politics, war, revolution, and diplomacy. Teaching responsibilities include western and/or world civilizations survey and upper-division and graduate courses in Russian History. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by July 2016, and should have a professional dedication to teaching and to pursuing an active research agenda. Additionally, participation in departmental programs, service, and governance are expected.
