Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure track position in Urban Studies beginning August 2016. We seek a teacher-scholar whose work examines well-being and health in urban contexts. The Assistant Professor will (1) investigate health disparities and related social conditions in collaboration with community partners, (2) teach core courses in urban studies, including research methods, and courses in urban and community health, and (3) advise and supervise community-based research and learning opportunities for undergraduate students. Ability to teach GIS is desirable, but not essential.
The successful applicant must possess a firm commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college and to continued scholarly activity in an area related to urban and community health. Owing to the interdisciplinary nature of the position, we will consider applications from a wide variety of academic disciplines. Applicants should hold or expect to receive the Ph.D. by July 2016.
