The Department of Communication at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a position as Associate Director of Debate, to be appointed at the rank of Lecturer, non-tenure stream, pending budgetary approval. We seek candidates whose exemplary backgrounds in argumentation pedagogy position them well to assume a leadership role in the William Pitt Debating Union, and to teach undergraduate courses such as Public Speaking, Argument, Debate, and Discussion. Ph.D. or ABD status and debate coaching experience are required, as the successful candidate will assist in the administration of one of the nation’s storied intercollegiate policy debate programs. This is a one-year, non-tenure stream position with possibility of renewal subject to performance review.

The department has developed working relationships with distinguished programs in Africana Studies, Bioethics and Health Law, Classics, Cultural Studies, East Asian Studies, European Studies, Global Studies, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, Film Studies, History and Philosophy of Science, International Security Studies, Latin American Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Russian and East European Studies, and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program.
