Academic Advising Director – Job ID#13380
POSITION DETAILS:
Reporting directly to the Dean of Academic Programs and Instruction, the Academic Advising Director is responsible for: Overseeing and providing overall leadership, supervision, coordination, and planning to the Academic Advisement & Transfer Center staff. Promote students' awareness of key support services and institutional policies and procedures. Collaborating with academic departments and other student services areas in order to enhance students understanding of degree requirements and transfer opportunities. Coordinate the establishment and periodic review of articulation agreements. Coordinate college-wide academic advising activities. Improving accountability and operate through a framework that includes assessment of academic advisement outcomes. Oversee the maintenance of the online academic advisement and degree auditing system, Degree Works. Develops a comprehensive assessment plan that will include the implementation of appropriate assessment tools to identify and address student needs. Facilitates in the culling and distribution of data required for reporting by the State, City, University and College. Compiles reports and makes recommendations to the Dean as necessary. Manages program budgets and adjusts spending plans and allocations as appropriate.
Directs development and operations of academic counseling services. Designs, implements and monitors a comprehensive academic advisement model and protocol. Oversees outcomes assessment and creates strategic plan to further enhance academic advisement services. Manages an academic advisement center to ensure consistent and reliable information is provided to students. Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships; serves as primary liaison to faculty and administrators regarding academic counseling services; and works with academic departments to develop faculty advisement components. Administers all compliance and data integrity activities of academic counseling in accordance with University standards. Advises College administration on policy interpretation and execution regarding University academic counseling standards and best practices. Develops and manages unit budget. Manages professional and clerical staff. Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required. Other Qualifications: Master's degree in student personnel administration, higher education, counseling or related field. Eight years of experience working directly with undergraduate students in an academic setting or related field. Direct advising experience with one or more of the following student populations preferred: developmental students, transfer students, disabled students, or student in academic difficulty. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of CUNY technical applications. Managerial experience and ability to effectively interact with a diverse faculty, staff and student population while representing the Academic Advising Center and the College to internal and external constituents.
SALARY: $68,803 - $106,071.
