Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level in Critical Ethnic Studies beginning fall 2016. This is a new position and will provide primary support and coordination for the major in Critical Ethnic Studies approved in fall 2014. Expertise in the field of Critical Ethnic Studies as well as the ability to teach the four approved core courses of the major required. At Kalamazoo the Critical Ethnic Studies program works from Indigenous, national and transnational interdisciplinary frameworks. Preference may be given to candidates with specializations in the following areas: epistemology, historiography, and de-colonial methods and pedagogies. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate liberal arts teaching, including occasional contributions to the College’s Shared Passages Program (first-year and sophomore seminars, and senior capstones), and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both in and out of the classroom. Ph.D. (or evidence it will be completed by September 1, 2016) required. Salary is competitive and consistent with level of experience.
