The School of Culture and Society is looking for a research assistant in the field of digital heritage. The position is available from 1 September or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed-term position lasting until 31 December 2017, but with the option of an extension subject to the continuation of the requisite funding.
The position
The position is affiliated with the digital heritage unit, which involves collaboration between Aarhus University and Moesgaard Museum but is physically located at Moesgård south of Aarhus. The unit carries out all-round IT development and support tasks for a range of museums, institutions of culture and research projects. The work of the unit is a central aspect of the efforts made by the School of Culture and Society and Moesgaard Museum to maintain a leading position in the field of digital heritage. We are looking for someone with an interest in the field of cultural history/archaeology who also has strong competences with regard to programming and data processing, preferably in combination with experience of GIS, data conversion and/or graphics. We are primarily interested in qualifications in the following areas:
- Homepage programming (PHP, HTML5, Javascript, Django)
- Web databases (MySQL)
- WebGIS (PostGIS, ArcGIS server)
- 3D Animation (3ds Max, Blender)
- 3D modelling (Photoscan)

Qualifications
Applicants for the position of research assistant must be able to document a Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications within the field of cultural heritage/cultural history and/or programming/IT.
Applicants are also expected to document the competences described above, as well as:
- The ability to cooperate and work in teams
- Experience of IT development tasks
