St. Thomas University invites applications for an interim one year appointment under the auspices of the Endowed Chair in Native Studies, to begin August 1, 2015, pending budgetary approval. This appointment will be for a one year term, with a possibility of renewal.
St. Thomas University is an undergraduate, liberal arts institution with a full-time enrolment of 1,900. Its students graduate with Bachelor of Arts, Applied Arts, Education, and Social Work degrees. The faculty members are distinguished teachers, researchers and scholars, and the University holds four Canada Research Chairs.
The successful candidate will be qualified to teach one course in Native Studies or a related field. The successful candidate will have academic experience related to the language, history, and culture of the Maliseet, Mi’Kmaq and Passamaquoddy peoples, or legal issues pertaining to First Nations in the Atlantic region. In addition to teaching in the Department of Native Studies, the successful candidate will have demonstrated connections with First Nations in the region and assist in linking St. Thomas University with those communities. A key objective will be to enhance St. Thomas’s profile in First Nation communities in New Brunswick.
A Master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline is required.
