The Department of History in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Modern German history at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2016. Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2016 in the field of modern German History. Candidates should be effective teachers and must be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in modern German history. Teaching duties include a range of European history courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school and university activities.
