We are looking for applicants with proven research and teaching capabilities in both Old and Middle English Literature. Additional requirements include a good knowledge of Old and Middle English and the willingness to teach in the field of historical linguistics. The successful candidate’s research interests should be compatible with the department’s comparative orientation. S/he will be expected to make substantial contributions to the bachelor’s degree program “Anglistik und Amerikanistik” and to the master’s degree program “Comparative Studies in English and American Language and Literature” as well as to theoretical and methodological inquiry within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Further qualifications include outstanding pedagogical skills and the readiness to engage in interdisciplinary research and academic administration. Candidates who do not speak German are expected to achieve competence in German within two years. Employment prerequisites include (in addition to the regulations of the Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, § 36) the proven ability to conduct scholarly research and additional professional achievements.
