Appointment: One-year visiting assistant professor position beginning Fall 2015
Responsibilities:
The teaching assignment will be 3 courses per semester, with teaching responsibilities divided roughly equally between the Department of History and the Program in Science, Technology and Society.
In the Fall semester, the teaching will be History 102 (Western Civilization, 1650-1990), STS 375 (Science and Politics), and perhaps STS 301 (Technology and Culture). In the Spring, the teaching will be a first-year History seminar, an upper-division History elective, and an STS course, which may be on subjects related to the visitor's special interests and expertise.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold a Ph. D. in a relevant discipline (ABD considered). The successful candidate will also have training in Modern European History (field of specialization open) as well as in History of Science and Technology (post 1600, field of specialization open). Demonstrated success in university teaching is highly desirable.
