The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching sections of a two-semester college-level survey in American History, as well as a course in one of the following areas: American Government, Economics, or American Economic History. The successful applicant will also teach elective courses in his/her disciplinary specialty. For example, history electives currently on offer include American West, Women in US History, The Civil War and Reconstruction, European Intellectual History since 1600, Strategy & Diplomacy of the Great Powers, Twentieth-Century U.S. Foreign Policy, The Second World War, Tudor-Stuart England, Modern Britain, History of American Science, and U.S. Military History. LSMSA history faculty teach five classes a semester (15 semester hours) with a standard class size of fifteen. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in History (A.B.D. considered).
This is a full-time position with all benefits associated with being an employee of the State of Louisiana, and contract dates for the next school year will be August 9 through June 1. The salary will be commensurate with experience and follow the school’s salary index. The current range is $44,500 - $47,000.
