Senior Lecturer in Modern Hebrew Language

The Program in Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Senior Lecturer in modern Hebrew language for the 2014-15 academic year. Responsibilities will include teaching with a six course load (over two semesters), curriculum development for the Hebrew language program, and language placement. Initial one-year contract is renewable after review with possibility of three-year contracts in the future. Competitive salary and benefits.
Qualifications requested of candidates: Ph.D in a related field. Native or near-native fluency in Hebrew and English; demonstrated excellence in the teaching of Hebrew language and in the effective application of current technologies to foreign language learning; ability also to teach courses in Israeli culture and film and/or in Yiddish. Candidates with a background in second language acquisition will be given special consideration.
