Missouri Southern State University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of History beginning August 2014. We are seeking a broadly trained historian of the United States who will teach both halves of the U.S. History survey and upper-level courses in late 18th and/or 19th Century U.S. History, including the Civil War. Desirable subfields include: African-American, Native American, or Women’s History. Preferred applicants will also have a demonstrable ability to teach an introductory course in Public History, and a willingness to cultivate and direct internships at local museums and historic sites. The position requires a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level; teaching load is four courses per semester. A Ph.D. is preferred, A.B.D.s will be considered.
