Assistant Researcher + 10 Post-docs - Interdisciplinary Project Errans
|Position:||Post-Doctoral Fellow, Research Professional|
The ICI Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry announces a position as assistant researcher and ten postdoctoral fellowships for its new interdisciplinary core project Errans starting in autumn 2014.
Recognizing that a critique of ideals of productivity, success, goal-orientation, and determination is necessarily paradoxical, the project Errans will take the shifting meanings of erring – connoting the violation of norms as well as the activity of wandering – as a starting point to explore the critical potentials and risks of embracing error, randomness, failure, and non-teleological temporalities. The inquiry is intended to reach across different disciplines and discourses, relating not only to the knowledge of life, diaspora, or arts of failing, but also, for instance, to aesthetics, theories of play and games, or random-walk models in (finance) mathematics. For a more detailed description of the project, please see http://www.ici-berlin.org/errans.
For its new core project, the ICI Berlin announces a part-time position (up to 75%) for a researcher assisting the director in conducting the research project Errans.
Tasks would include identifying and commenting upon relevant research material; preparing, participating in, and documenting weekly colloquia and other events related to the project; evaluating event and co-operation proposals as well as fellowship applications; writing grant applications; accompanying the editing process of publications; liaising with a network of co-operation partners.
Scholars from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Applicants should be fluent in both English and German, have a PhD and a research profile related to the ICI's general profile and upcoming core project. Relevant work experience and familiarity with interdisciplinary research environments would be desirable.
The ICI Berlin offers an intellectually stimulating, challenging, and diversified work-environment and a remuneration corresponding to TVöD-L E 13 (up to 75%) for three years starting in Spring 2013 and possibly extendable to 4-5 years.
Please consult http://www.ici-berlin.org/stellen for further details and send your application by e-mail only to the address indicated there.
Deadline: 30 November 2013
The ICI Berlin furthermore announces ten post-doctoral fellowships for scholars from all disciplines to engage in a joint exploration of the critical potentials and risks of Errans.
Applicants should be interested in a theoretical reflection upon the conceptual and intellectual basis of their projects and in discussing it with fellows from other disciplines. In particular, fellows will be expected to participate in the weekly colloquia, bi-weekly informal meetings, and other activities of the Institute, to contribute to a common publication, and to be resident in Berlin for the duration of the fellowship.
The fellowships announced are for the academic years 2014-16 (15 September 2014 – 15 July 2016). There is no age limit, but applicants should have obtained their PhD within ten years of the date of appointment or have fulfilled all requirements for receiving their PhD by 1 July 2014. Stipends range from EUR 1700 to 1900 per month. Interested applicants should consult the full announcement at http://www.ici-berlin.org/fellowships and send their application by e-mail only to the address indicated there.
