The Department of History and Philosophy at The State University of New York College at Old Westbury invites applications for an Assistant Professor level tenure-track position in Geography, beginning Fall 2013. This position will expand the department's strength in Human Geography. The successful candidate will regularly teach geography at the undergraduate level and will be able to offer additional undergraduate courses on global history, religion in world history, or the history of the region of specialization to strengthen the department's majors, as well as be able to teach geography at the graduate level.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Geography in hand or an anticipated completion date of August 1, 2013 or sooner. Desired areas of specialization include, but are not limited to: geography of religion, global geography, or the geography of a world region outside the US (Latin America preferred). The successful candidate must be active in his or her professional field and demonstrate a willingness to be involved in departmental and college committees or services. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
