GRINNELL COLLEGE. One-year leave replacement position in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies, starting August 2013. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD) possible. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute courses in Gender and Science, Transnational Feminisms, Sexuality Studies and/or Masculinity Studies. Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college. The College's curriculum is founded on a strong advising system and close student-faculty interaction, with few college-wide requirements beyond the completion of a major. The teaching schedule of five courses over two semesters will include: Introduction to Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies, as well as a survey course and a seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. In letters of application, candidates should describe their previous teaching experience in the field of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies at both the introductory and advanced level, and indicate courses beyond the introductory level that they are prepared to teach. Candidates should also discuss their interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in an undergraduate, liberal-arts college that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction. They also should discuss what they can contribute to efforts to cultivate a wide diversity of people and perspectives, a core value of Grinnell College.
