The Department of Political Science at Brooklyn College seeks a nationally recognized scholar/practitioner in public policy for the Belle Zeller Visiting Professorship. We seek an individual specializing in one or more of the following fields: labor, education, health, urban politics, environment, criminal justice, racial equality, national security, immigration, and gender and LGBTQ justice. The Belle Zeller Professorship reflects the Department's values and scholarly commitment to issues of civil rights and social justice.
The Belle Zeller professor will deliver two CUNY-wide lectures and two College lectures, engage in workshops/seminars as a resident expert, mentor students, develop opportunities to enrich student learning in his/her area of expertise, and teach two classes a semester. All of these activities are designed to serve as catalysts for scholarly dialogue about national and international issues of civil rights and social justice. This position offers the opportunity to focus on scholarship and for that research to impact a broad audience; to work with Brooklyn College and CUNY's many centers, institutes, and programs; as well as to take advantage of the diverse and rich intellectual and cultural offerings of the NYC area. Scholars/practitioners who work in areas such as political science, history, urban geographies, international relations, race and ethnic studies, gender studies, law and public policy are especially encouraged to apply. Ph.D. in area(s) of expertise or equivalent advanced degree required. Record of excellence in scholarship, creative achievement or other outstanding policy leadership in related field(s) is essential. A record of teaching or working in a diverse, multicultural urban environment is preferred. Salary range is $85,356- 102,253 (with an additional $10,000 stipend) commensurate with qualifications and experience.
