Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Public History at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2012. The successful candidate will help develop and coordinate a new Public History program that utilizes the numerous resources available in the Nation’s Oldest City, develop upper-level history courses, and teach history survey courses in the new General Education curriculum. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is expected to organize and supervise student internships, and to participate actively in the local, state, and regional Public History community. A proven ability to teach courses in Atlantic World studies is desired, although other areas of specialization will be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. An active research agenda and evidence of excellence in teaching are required. Program coordination experience and the ability to interact effectively with professionals within and outside of the college are highly desirable.
Flagler College is a private independent college with an enrollment of 2,500. The College is located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 55 miles north of Daytona Beach.
