Tenure-track assistant or associate professor of Public History. Requirements: Expertise in public history and U. S. history as demonstrated by dissertation work and public history research/ publications; college-level teaching or lecturing experience; Ph.D. in History, Public History, or allied field in hand by appointment date. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as practicing public historians and demonstrated ability to teach public history courses and supervise public history internships and projects.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in Public History as well as U.S. history courses as assigned. The appointee will be expected to help expand an established public history program with existing expertise in oral history and museums, maintain active research scholarship and professional development programs, provide academic advising to students as assigned, and be active in the development of departmental programs and governance. To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. Appointment date for the position is 1 September 2012. Salary commensurate with experience.
