Hillsdale College, Barney Charter School Initiative
Classical K-12 School Principal
|Institution Type:||College / University|
|Location:||Texas, United States|
Do you aspire to lead a classical K-12 charter school? Over the next few years, Hillsdale College will be helping to establish several classical K-12 charter schools around the U.S. through the Barney Charter School Initiative. As it does so, it seeks qualified candidates to serve as principals. These principals, accountable to a board of parent founders, will be responsible for hiring teachers, implementing a classical liberal arts and civic-minded curriculum, establishing a studious and decorous school culture, maintaining healthy enrollment, and ensuring financial integrity. In addition, they will work to foster an understanding of liberal arts education and the virtues of school choice in their communities. In all their work they will draw upon the advice and experience of Hillsdale College faculty involved in the Barney Charter School Initiative.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of classical education and a dedication to the liberal arts and the teaching of civics. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree, teaching experience at the K-12 or college level, a record of leadership, and demonstrated abilities in speaking and writing. Exceptional individuals without a master’s degree may be accepted conditional to earning an M.A. in politics at Hillsdale College’s Graduate School of Statesmanship.
Openings will be ongoing for various locations, but the first position is now open. Those interested should submit a letter of introduction, a curriculum vitae, academic transcripts, a one-page statement on classical liberal arts education, and employment and academic references to Barney Initiative Director Phil Kilgore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
